You: To what sizes can a "Looooong Shots" photograph be printed to?
Me: It depends on the specific photograph, for several reasons. Since I do most of the prints, most of them will be confined to a maximum smallest side of 60cm. But, today it is easy to find a quality printer to do the job, and I have these contacts ready. Each "Looooong Shot" will have a caption with information on sizes. The Alma Lux Photographia shopt will have more information on other sizes and prices.
You: Are "Looooong Shots" only horizontal?
Me: No. These can be vertical or square, or even have undefined very complex shapes.
You: Can any of these be framed? This big?
Me: Well, I still haven't reached the limit in frame sizes, actually. It depends on the people where I take the photographs to be framed at, it depends on the print support used (paper, canvas, etc), and it depends on the means of transport to wherever the photograph is to be taken.
You: Are "Looooong Shots" collection photographs?
Me: Yep. All are signed and numbered by me, and delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity. Each photograph will be printed up to 30 times, in the form of a print to be hung. I always keep the right to have them printed in books, or to publish them electronically anywhere.
You: My new camera now does these kind of panos. What is the difference? Can't it just do my own?
Me: There are several differences here, but I will try to keep it short. Many of the "Looooong Shots" do not fit into the "pano" category; these can be vertical or in a 2D matrix; these have not been restricted to the "sweep" that your camera requires; all of the original files I use are best quality RAW, with filters on the lens, and the lens is at the settings I want; the post-processing is from 16bit colour depth tiff files; best contrast, colour and sharpening adjustments are done under controlled steps; all of this is done by the Photographer...not just a processing algorithm. And, finally, the aim is having a file for a quality print, not just on the web - and this means a lot of differences, not only due to the specifics of this project.
