Planned Workshops for 2010

Alma Lux Photographia, also in collaboration with other partners, has an agenda for several types of workshops. These are publicised on the web and on Photography Magazines.
The good and long experience in teaching, in the contact with other cultures and peoples, as well as the technical capabilities on photography, are key ingredients to helping provide you with nice days, resting from the work of several weeks or after a working day, and learning photography.

CAUSES (CAUSAS, in portuguese) Photography Workshops
These will take place in the areas of Serra do Gerês, Serra da Estrela, Serra de Montesinho, but not only in the mountains. CAUSAS will also happen in rural and urban areas. It is made for all people of all ages, to join civic contributions and the protection of cultures to the learning of photography.

This is an english-ready workshop.

These Workshops have been created in joint work between Alma Lux Photographia and Nouvelle Photo.

ALL ABOARD
Photography Workshops in the family:
Alma Lux Photographia will prepare Photography Workshops, on Landscape, in several places around the country. The aim is to teach photography in a spirit of sharing and cooperation among the members of a family, from mother, father, sons/daughters, brothers or grandparents. This is an exceptional team activity, to actively bring the family together.

There is one field trip, per session.
The choice of places for the field trip depends on the number of people.
Alma Lux Photographia will move to the place agreed. For distances more than 30km from Leiria, Alma Lux Photographia will charge an extra cost for travel.
There is a component of exposing knowledge for learning and analysis, for all.

This is an english-ready workshop.

Number of participants: 2 to 8
Min. age: 10 years old
Max. age: no limit
Teenagers and children (age<18): always with one of their parents
Mature adults (age>=60): always with one of their sons/daughters

Total participant cost (only for the Workshop):

- Adults (age>=18): 50 € (w/ VAT);
- Teenagers (14<=age<18): 30 € (w/ VAT);
- Children (10<=age<14): 20 € (w/ VAT);
- Mature adults (age>=60): 30 € (w/ VAT).

Dates: To be defined, 1 day-only.
Place: At home, at the beach, in the park. To be defined, for each case!

LANDSCAPES
Landscape Photography
These are centred on the seeing, analysing, criticising and feeling a landscape photograph, on the technique and the use of the equipment behind it, and on the making. The workshops are fundamentally built on outdoor outings, but also include analysis of photographs and presentations.

2 days (LW - Large Workshop)
with programme depending on the season and location

These involve: outdoor field trips to a photographically relevant place; preparation and technical analysis of the photographs with photographer João M. Gil, in an appropriate place (the briefings).

This is an english-ready workshop.

Number of participants: 2 to 6
Participation Cost: 40€ (MW), 80€ (SW) ou 130€ (LW) (w/ VAT)

Depths-of-Field
Teaching Photography with Applyied Projects
These workshops are built into the photographic work that photographer João M. Gil is developing, for his own work. These are projects he is working on, having the availability to teach 1 or 2 persons. It is an excellent opportunity to make contact with the real applied work of a landscape a photographer.

1 day, 12h (SW - Small Workshop)
with times depending on the season and project

There is an initial briefing, to attest the profile and learning objectives of the participant and to check if it is possible to learn in a team, without sacrificing the project.
It can be held in any part of the country.

Number of participants: 1 to 2, amateur photographers
Participation cost: 50€ (MW), 90€ (SW) (c/ IVA)

Hands-on-Machine
Learn how to chose, buy and know the camera
These workshops teach how to chose or buy a camera, helping the participant to define what they require for their personal specific objectives.
These will save up to hundreds of €s to the new camera user, frequently ending up not using it fully.
These will also contribute to learning how to use the recently bought camera and make it worth the buy, in terms of resulting satisfaction.
Photographer João M. Gil is committed to be transparent and impartial in his opinions and teachings that he provides.

This is an english-ready workshop.

Number of participants: 1-to-1
Participation cost: 50€ (w/ VAT)
Additional hours: 20€/hour (w/ VAT)

Worldwide (via Skype), in all of the country, or in the regions around Leiria, Coimbra and Aveiro, for a more personalised contact. For distances more than 30km from Leiria, Alma Lux Photographia will charge an extra cost for travel.

Workshop on Landscape Photography:
Landscape Photography Workshop, as one of the Nouvelle Photo Workshops.

(21 hours), Leiria. Two outdoor campaigns. 3 week-day evenings and 2 saturdays.

Workshop Cultural-Photography:
These will take place exclusively in Serra do Gerês, with base-camp at the Parque de Campismo de Cerdeira.
These involve learning photography, while developing the capabilities for observation, imagination and artistic sense. The aim, through a complete over-the-night and local food programme arranged by the Camping, is to provide days of physical rest for those who wish to develop their senses and also rest their minds, while learning photography.
