News/Event #1: The books "Olhares Montanheiros" and "On Mountains" are now being sold outside of Portugal - already two bookshops in Belgium! Have a look here.
News/Event #2: The books "Olhares Montanheiros" and "On Mountains" were presented in Portuguese and in English, in the Lands of Gerês, in the wonderful Cerdeira Campsite. Here are some photos of the event:

News/Event #1: The books "Olhares Montanheiros" and "On Mountains" are now being sold in more bookshops in Lisbon, Almada, Oporto - Vila Nova de Gaia and Coimbra. Have a look here.
News/Event #2: The books "Olhares Montanheiros" and "On Mountains" will be presented on the 29th and 30th of July in the Lands of Gerês, at the Cerdeira Campsite.
News/Event #3: The 21st monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens is out, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! It is on the "show" behind the photography process and on management of expectations (still, in Portuguese, sorry).
June 2010
News/Event #1: The book "On Mountains" was subject to good critique and mention in the national TV programme "Biosphere" (in Portuguese), for those "who love mountains". Check a bit of the programme here, at minute 34.
News/Event #2: The books "Olhares Montanheiros" and "On Mountains" have been presented in Leiria, at the previous working João's working place, in the Library of Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão de Leiria, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, and at the Arquivo Bookshop. Here are some photos of the events.
News/Event #3: The 21st monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens will be out during June, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! The previous, with a photograph of a simple four pot in a special home, is here (still, in Portuguese, sorry).
News/Event #4: Jointly with Cerdeira Campsite, in the Lands of Gerês, the event was photographically covered within an activity at the Blessing of the Cattle - from dogs, to horses, cows and goats, in the middle of a huge crow. Here are some photographs of my favourite dog, around the place, called "Shepherd" (in Portuguese).
News/Event #5: The previous CAUSAS Photography Workshop, in the Lands of Gerês, was unfortunately cancelled for the lack of enough participants. Keep track of the following ones.

News/Event #1: The next CAUSAS Photography Workshop will be held in the Lands of Gerês. Have a look in Workshops. Keep track of deadlines.
News/Event #2: The books "On Mountains" and "Olhares Montanheiros" will be soon presented in the city of Leiria, at the previous working João's working place (on the 31st of May, 18h, in the Library of Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão de Leiria, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria) and at the Arquivo Bookshop (on the 29th of May, 17h30). It will be memorable!
News/Event #3: The books were the motivation for an excellent talk, at the Afonso Lopes Vieira Municipal Library, in Leiria, along the “Week of Reading for All". Here are some photos (by Fernando Costa Pereira):
News/Event #4: João was invited, as photographer and entrepreneur, for a presentation on Art at the Secondary School in the village of Maceira, along the Arts & Culture Project (along with other artists). From Jamie Oliver to Gandalf, also going on on an apple, actual things of the life of an artist haven't been left behind.
Alma Lux Photographia supports this project, whose resposibility is Genoveva Oliveira's (teacher). It is a unique project, original and complete. It will surely be fruitful for many, at several levels. You will go far! Here are some photos (by Genoveva Oliveira):
News/Event #5: The 20th monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens will be out during May, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! It will be something along simplicity and genuinity.
April 2010
News/Event #1: The books "On Mountains" and "Olhares Montanheiros" have been to the national radio, in the program "Among the books" (in portuguese), by the Journalist Ana Aranha. It was transmitted on the 6th of March. Have a listen here (portuguese!), or go to the program's site.
News/Event #2: The release of the book in the nice and organic environment of Trama Bookshop, in Lisboa, "was unique, something never seen before and unforgettable", in the words of people that have been making books and been in several other releases. Check some photos here (by Sónia Melo, António Carrasqueira and João M. Gil), and for a small video in FotoDigital On-Line.
News/Event #3: The books "On Mountains" and "Olhares Montanheiros" go around the World, besides already being in several places around the country, from Lisbon, Oporto, Leiria, Lands of Gerês, and even in the Netherlands (in Nature places, some bookshops, some photography and mountaineering shops). And will, gradually, go to other places. If you don't want to wait, go to the ALP On-line Bookshop and have one for you! From Chile to India, it is being seen around the World.
News/Event #4: Some of João's photographs have been exhibited in a magnificent way, following the invitation of the Company Lis Sistemas, at the 5th Professional Photographers' Association 5th Exhibit (13-16th March). Lis Sistemas demonstrated the exceptional qualities of their printing papers, with exceptional examples of urban, natural, rural and journey photography. João: "I am impressed with these papers. Mainly the fine-art ones. I want one!"
News/Event #5: The CAUSAS Workshop in the Lands of Caramulo was great - the people that received us has show exceptional kindness, joy and energy! Check here for the resulting photographs, by the participants. And keep track of the following CAUSAS!
News/Event #6: The Photography Challenge in the event ASESTRELA2010 - Gathering with the Mountain, of which João was responsible in collaboration with Cultural Association of the Friends of Serra da Estrela (in portuguese), has made public the awardees. Next year there will be more! Congrats to the awarded photographers.
News/Event #7: The 19th monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens will only be out for March, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! The title will be "Along the sound of my boots in the snow and in the Sun".

News/Event #1: The day of the launch of the book "On Mountains" in English, by João M. Gil and Nuno Verdasca, Edited by João himself with Imagens & Letras, is near. The Forewords are two relevant pieces of two relevant people. Check the "Tic...Tac...Teaser" on the top left and keep track of news.
News/Event #2: Alma Lux Photographia tries a different way of transmitting information regarding the cover story, technical issues, critical opinion and indications of where to place it.
News/Event #2: The following CAUSES Photography Workshop will take place in the Lands of Caramulo. Have a look in Workshops. Deadlines are close.
News/Event #3: The Photography Challenge of "ASESTRELA2010 - Gathering with the mountains", of which João M. Gil is responsible together with the whole event Organising team, has had several participants. The Carnival weekend has been spectacular with good Sun and also snow. The Jury will now meet and decide, in the following days.
News/Event #3: The 18th monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens will only be out for March, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! It will be on "Diversity", in photography surely!

News/Event #1: In the same manner as last year, Alma Lux Photographia shares with Associação de Amigos da Serra da Estrela (ASE) the organisation of "ASESTRELA2010 - Gathering with the mountain" on a Photography Challenge. The Challenge will be on two themes, Nature and Mountain Sports, it has an impressive Jury and excellent prizes. Come and photograph the Mountain! Have a look here (in english).
News/Event #2: The 17th monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens will be out, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! It will be on offering printed photographs to people that welcome you and trust you.

News/Event #1: The past CAUSAS Photography Workshop, in the Lands of Gerês, from the 20th to the 22nd of November,, went very well and was rather intense. Have look at the Making Of photographs at CAUSAS (fully in Englisg). Heep track of the following events! News/Event #2: The 16th monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens will be out, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! It will be on the emotions that go through the photographer's hart when photographing the Death of a being that lived more than 400 years. The article is related to this month's cover.
News/Event #3: ALP (Alma Lux Photographia) wishes all Happy Xmas and a 2010 full of energy and creativity!

News/Event #1: Check on the following CAUSAS Photography Workshop, in the Lands of Gerês, from the 20th to the 22nd of November. Have look at CAUSAS and keep track of the deadlines! We should be photographing the Life and Death of our magnificent trees.
News/Event #2: The 15th monthly article Photographs with stories behind the lens will be out, in digital form, in FOTOdigital Online (In Comunidade-Crónicas de João M. Gil)! It is on a hiking trip to the mountains, before and after a great snow fall.
News/Event #3: ALP (Alma Lux Photographia) thanks all of those that, in several ways, have wished congratulations for the previous 2 year of good work!
News/Event #4: For those that are very inquisitive, there is plenty more happening at ALP, but some things just aren't put in news or others will just come later. Sorry for that!
